Brunnenpassage – Cie anteprima – Izolyatsia – Maly Berlin – Zentralwerk – Zō – Culture Possibili – Darshan
We are part of Patrimonio Instabile / Unstable Heritage and are delighted to welcome two of the participating artists, Lorenzo Bottaro and Damiano Grasso, from 12 to 19 November 2026.
Patrimonio Instabile is an artistic research project developed as part of the Boarding Pass programme of the Italian Ministry of Culture. Five Italian artists under the age of 35 take part in the programme, undertaking short residencies at various European partner institutions as part of their artistic research. The collective process will culminate in a performance installation at Zō Centro Culture Contemporanee in Catania in spring 2027.
The project focuses on former industrial sites that are now used as cultural or community centres. Patrimonio Instabile understands these places as living yet fragile forms of historical memory and explores how they are shaped by ongoing processes of transformation. They provide a starting point for reflecting on resource extraction, environmental impact, production and profit logics, geopolitical conflicts and social change.
The project is particularly interested in the ambivalence of transformation: in the possibilities of renewal and innovation, as well as in risks such as gentrification, loss of identity and the erosion of established meanings. In this way, industrial heritage becomes a laboratory for critical and creative thinking about the present and possible futures.
Among the five selected artists are Lorenzo Bottaro and Damiano Grasso, who will undertake their residency at Zentralwerk in November.
Lorenzo Bottaro is a filmmaker born in Syracuse. He studies film at the Academy of Fine Arts in Catania. His documentaries include Le mie tracce and Il bardo in Sicilia. His interests include psychology, history and politics.
Damiano Grasso (1997) is a musician, composer and producer from Catania. His music moves between electronic sounds, ambient and instrumental music. He combines piano and synthesiser with digital production. His current projects – Nevarno!, Clumby and Transport in Lebanon – range from live electronics, garage and bass music to hip-hop and lo-fi, as well as ambient and neo-classical music incorporating film and archival footage.
During their stay at Zentralwerk, Lorenzo Bottaro and Damiano Grasso will be mentored by Barbara Lubich.

Dritte Runde BOARDING PASS +
Brunnenpassage – Cie anteprima – Izolyatsia – Maly Berlin – Zentralwerk – Zō – Culture Possibili – Darshan
